Albavision translation into english
I let it be your turn to kiss the fear
or we both close our eyes, and noone disappeard
Take the words and music with you.
Because all song have of 7 notes,
but the one song that stays as a memory
is this motif.

Refrain
No there are not only rainy days
There are also sunny days when you're not anymore (here)
Who survives, is stronger afterwards (What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger)
That you ran away surprised me, time will reveal your secret
How much did you sell your heart I don't know

Why did you loose you sense of direction, that you went on dark paths.
A plane does not fly through clouds on winter days.
Not even the last appeal stopped your rhythm
because it was time for you to run away
but without love, you won't be anything anymore
a handful of ash
Refrain
There's no way I could know,
how much did you sell your heart, my heart/darling
Time will tell, one day
That you ran away surprised me, time will reveal your secret
How much did you sell your heart I don't know
Don't know, don't know, don't know, it's not possible, I don't know
why did you sell your heart.
Refrain

News from the Orient

The Turkish Band "MaNga", that finished second this year at the Eurovision Songcontest is going to be one of the guests at the Festivali i këngës next week. They said to be performing on the first evening, which means on the first semifinal on 23rd December. Earlier we already knew about Juliana Pasha being one of the guest appearances at FiK 2010. MaNga is therefore the second guest act to be announced.

Yesterday, it has been the 5th semifinal show in the Azeri National Final. From each semi final one candidate is voted into the final. The format first searches for voices and afterwards for the right song, just like winning country Germany did for this years ESC. The winner of yesterdays semi final heat, Aynishan Gulijeva, made it into the final with her interpretation of "Carry me into your dreams", Albania's competing song at the ESC 2009.
Whether her vocal skills and performance can reach Kejsi is discutable, but her English skills don't reach out by far. Make up your own opinion below. By the way, here you can see another participant in the Azeri NF singing Juliana Pasha's "It's all about you".

Some random news

Françesk Radi, who returns to Festivali i Këngës as a singer after 7 years, has in an interview with Shekulli revealed that the title of his song will be Jetës i këndova (I sang it to life), and not Kemi dasem`o (We have a wedding'oh). The song is about a Romani wedding; the lyrics are written by Agim Doçi, while Françesk has written the melody himself.

The Albanian representative from 2008, Olta Boka, is known for her ballads. According to Blutooth, the young artist will take a break from the genre to show that she can do other genres as well.

Juliana Pasha appeared at E diela shqiptare last Sunday together with Pirro Çako. Below you can listen to them singing Për një çast më ndali zemra, which Pirro Çako and Rovena Dilo won Kënga Magjike with in 2001. You can also listen to the latest released song by Juliana below.

Juliana and Luiz won Kënga Magjike 2010!

Once again, a duet got the victory in Kënga Magjike, and this year it went to the earlier Albanian ESC representants Juliana Pasha and Luiz Ejlli with Sa e shite zemrën. The prize was given by the artists themselves. The second place went to Pirro Çako with the song Mirëmbrëma, si je?, only two points behind the winner. Ironicly, the winning song was also written by Pirro Çako.

Juliana and Luiz also got the Critic's Prize, while the third earlier ESC participant for Albania Olta Boka recieved the prize for Best Ballad for the song Mbete një breng. She finished at 8th place, with 384 points.

Top 5:
1. Juliana Pasha & Luiz Ejlli - Sa e shite zemrën - 697
2. Pirro Çako - Mirëmbrëma, si je? - 695
3. Rozana Radi & Ramadan Krasniqi - Valsi i tradhtisë - 570
4. Greta Koçi - Koha s'ndalet - 508
5. Eranda Libohova - Rroftë dashuria - 499

Linda Halimi was supposed to take part in the second semi final together with Nora Istrefi, but the entry "All mine" got disqualified by Ardit Gjebrea. This after breaking the contract by not comming back in time to Tirana for a Kënga Magjike rehearsal, after a job in Kosovo. What's more: Linda Halimi and Nora Istrefi have been suspended from the competition for the next six years!

News on Juliana, Dorina, Ilira & Genta

This week has been a week with a lot of little news which alone would have not reached out for a single article, so we have a little compilation of news this time.

Ilira Gashi
First there is Ilira Gashi, who is competing in the Swiss National Final together with "the Colours" and the song "Home". She belongs to the first qualifiers out of the first Web-preselection phase and is therefore part of the National Final on 11th December, when the representative for Switzerland at the ESC 2011 is to be found.

To reach that very same National Final is also the aim of the Kosovo-Albanian Superstar Genta Ismajli, who still has to hope to get enough votes to reach the Final with the song "This is my night".
Genta: ESC for every prize?
There is nothing she and her managment leave out to reach that aim, tons of publicity on her facebook page and interviews with Eurovsion related sites likes Esctoday. If in the end the Swiss people vote & support her also that massively as her own fans, is questionable. We stay tuned.

Back to Albania. Dorina Garuci, who exclusively confirmed her participation at the Fesivali i këngës to Albavision weeks ago, has now given away the title of the song with which she will perform in the National Final for Albania. The song is called "Ti", which simply means You in English.

"Do jetë një tokë një qytet, një qiell i ri"
At last, we can report from the "Kënga magjike 2010". The first heats are over now and the winners of each heat divided into the Semifinals. Juliana Pasha and Luiz Ejlli, who are competing together with a duet of Pirro Çako (Lyricist of Nuk mundem pa ty) will start in Semi two. More about the Kënga Magjike later.
But that is not every news of Juliana. Last week she was part of the Albanian show "Me and you", where two stars who are well befriended have a complete show for themselves to host, sing their best hits and talk to and about each other. In the last edition Juliana running the series, together with Sidrit Bejleri. In the show she sang also her hits like the wonderful "Një qjell i ri" (A new heaven), with that she got 3rd place in the FiK 2007 and "It's all about you" (ESC '10) played of a live band, sung half in Albanian half in English, I can advise to listen to both. you can watch the show again HERE.

    News of Juliana and Kejsi.

Juliana Pasha (Esc '10) stated that tomorrow she will present her brandew single, a duet with Luiz Ejlli (Esc '06), with which they will compete in the 'Kënga Magjike' in November, in Ardit Gjebra's show "E diela". Ardit Gjebra is the composer of "It's all about you" and has maybe also created the new duet of Juliana and Luiz.
    Juliana Pasha

To watch "e diela shqiptare" tomorrow at around 16:30 p.m. click this link and click on TV Klan for the channel.
Info to all Albanians: Tonight (25th) she will be singing live in the "Beergarden" in Tirana.

Another news come from esctoday.com who report that Kejsi Tola told a "local newspaper" that due to her start at the University of Arts she won't have much time to concentrate on her musical career in the near future. Therefore a participation at the Festivali i këngës is doubtable though not completly impossible as she stated to see what offers come. We wish Kejsi a wonderful start at the Academy and hope to see her back in the music scene soon! :)

    Poll analysis summer 2010

Our 3 polls on the right side are closed now and with 21 voters taking part in question one, the polls weren't as lively discussed as the ones before the Eurovision Songcontest, which is normal due to post-ESC-season and our own summerbreak.
Anyway, here is the outcome of the polls which may be repeated again in the beginning of next year:

Our first question was "What was your favourite Albanian ESC song?"
Albanias first representative and the most succesful Albanian entry to date, "The image of you" by Anjeza Shahini, is still one of the most popular Albanian songs in many international polls. Surprisingly only 1 of 21 voters said this song was his favourite. Another person said "Zjarr e ftohte" of 2006 by Luiz Ejlli was his favourite, leaving these two songs with each 4% of all votes on place 4 of the ranking. Only the 2007 entry "Hear my plea" had less votes and therefore zero. With each 9% of all votes "Tomorrow I go" and "Carry me in your dreams" share place 3.
    Albavision-Queen 2010
With 5 votes (23%) "Zemren e lame peng" by Olta Boka is the 2nd most favourited Albanian ESC song by the Albavision visitors.
The golden medal goes to wonderful Juliana Pasha and "It's all about you" with almost 50% of the votes! The song still seems to have a massive effect on our visitors. If Juliana can keep the position #1 next year when another artist is the most recent Albanian represantive, we'll find out in 2011. Congrats to Juliana for now!

    Complete Albavision popularity ranking 2010:

    1) Juliana Pasha - It's all about you - 2010
    2) Olta Boka - Zemren e lame peng - 2008
    3) Ledina Celo - Tomorrow I go - 2005
Kejsi Tola - Carry me in your dreams - 2009
    4) Anjeza Shahini - The image of you - 2004
        Luiz Ejlli - Zjarr e ftohte - 2006
    5) Frederik Ndoci - Hear my plea - 2007

The other two questions had to less responds to do a real analysis at this point. But as said, in the actual ESC-Season we will post these questions again :D

    Thursday, 8 July 2010

    Albavision poll analysis.

From 2nd of April to the first semifinal of the ESC 2010 in Oslo, we asked our visitors to take part in our polls on the right of the page and first of all: to get an overall of 120 responses in 3 polls in such a short time is quite amazing for us, as the page was totally new in web two months ago.

Our first question was: What do you think of "It's all about you"?

87% of the 47 voters in this poll answered with "It's awesome", which shouldn't be a surprise though as this page is probably mainly found and visited by either Albanians or people who love the Albanian entry 2010 in first place. Nevertheless, we can see people on this page were mainly satisfied with the Albanian selection for 2010. :D Only 4 people voted for "It' good" and two for "It's ok"/"It's bad".

And also most of the voters agreed when it came to the next question: "Where do you predict Albania to end up this year?"

Taking into account, that it's up to televoters AND juries to decide on the winner at ESC, 88% of the 43 voters said Albania will rank a "Top 10" and guessed wrong consequently, me being one of them to be honest. Only 5 people bet a position between "11th and 25th in the final" and guessed right as Albania ended up at place 16. None of the voters thought Albania would stuck in the semifinal, which did not happen either.:D

In the last question ("Will Albania benefit from the juries this year?") voters didn't agree as much as in the first two polls though.
Albania would have had achieved a 12th place if it was for Juries to decide 100% on the winner and a 17th place if only televoting had been taken into account on the final night. Therefore 60% of our voters guessed right by clicking option "Yes, they [Albania] will profit very much". The other 40% guessed wrong thinking Albania would either be voted same by televoters and juries or lose positions thanks to the juries.

    THANK YOU to all voters
Have a say in the comments if you have ideas why Albania may have ended up worse than predicted by us, or if some fact struck you etc... :D

    Jury and televoting results revealed

Albania got a 16th place in the Eurovision final this year, after simular results the two previous years. If only televoting was used, Albania would have ended up at 17th place once again. But unlike last year, when Albania would have ended up at 11th place if only televoting was used, Albania profited from the 50/50 spilt system this year.
If only the jury results were used, Albania would have ended up at 12th place.
You can have a look at all the results HERE!

Stay tuned for the analization of our polls outcome on the right side!

Juliana stands up against blood vengeance

With the message "choose forgivness, choose freedom, stop blood vengeance!", Juliana Pasha is getting engaged in removing the old tradition of blood vengeance, which still exist in Northern Albania. This old tradition is especially hurting women and children. Juliana has also visited victims of it, like at the women's prison in Tirana, together with people from Project Hanna Albania. She also gave away her own bible to a woman at the prison.
Juliana has expressed before that her christian faith is an important part of her life, and she will also release a CD with christian songs soon.

Juliana Pasha is using her fame in a positive way, here at the women's prison in Tirana.

    Audience loved Albania!

Ole reporting for us Live from Oslo
Many have said that the first semifinal is the weakest of the two, but there were three countries that really got the crowd cheering: Serbia, Iceland, and Albania! These were the only preformances where the audience stood up during the whole songs. Albanian flags were well represented in the arena, which was filled with a friendly atmosphere, where the albanians were waving their flags a lot for Serbia as well.

The only bad thing I can say about the arrangement, was that the arena was far from full. I can't wait for the final, where I'm sure Albania will be well received.

    Albania qualifies for the final!

Actually, I thought we would not get through when I saw that only 2 envelopes remained and Slovakia and Iceland and Finland and Latvia had a chance to get one of those, too. But the relieving envelope 9 was filled with the Albanian flag. Now, Juliana gets a second chance to enjoy the stage of Oslo. She gave a solid performance, though in my opinion not her best and I hope she will be better on the final night on Saturday.

In the press conference Juliana said she wishes not to have to sing on the positions 1-3 and luckily she drew position 15 for the final.

Her biggest opponent in terms of voice and dance-pop-diva song, Hera Björk, is starting on position 16 right after Juliana in the final, which will lead to a direct comparison of these two contestants, excitement is rising.

For me the worst decision ever made by the EBU was to have juries in the Semis, poor Slovakia, Finland...

Write a comment about your thoughts of Juliana's perfo and the other contestants!

Juliana gives concert in Norvegian school.

Yesterday, the Albanian Delegation arranged a concert for Juliana Pasha in a Norvegian School in Vøyenenga, a little town 20 kilometres to the west of Oslo. Collecting votes from the students, she gave a live presentation of "It's all about you", accompained by her three American background singers. The students had the oportunity to shake hands with the Albanian represantative afterwards and got school out (guess, which news they liked the most).

See the full concert (+ a schoolgroup concert) in the video below.

If you have a close look to the background, you can see a board with posters and facts about Albania (flags, traditional clothes etc...). Seems like this school learned much about our little country and had a very cultural day. Nice to see that.
